Outdoor Fiber Optic Cable OSP Outside Plant
With the demand for higher bandwidth and data transmission speeds, Telephone Companies, Utility Companies and Cable Companies are utilizing improved Outdoor Fiber Optic Cable OSP Outside Plant to meet those demands. Currently, the major fiber optic cable manufactures are experiencing severe shortages and backlogs in production. Be sure and look at our recent new arrivals of Armored Outdoor Fiber OSP Outside Plant.
Outdoor Fiber Optic Cable OSP is typically referred to as: OSP Fiber Optic Cable, Outside Plant, Outdoor Fiber Optic Cable and Loose Tube Fiber Optic Cable. Outdoor Fiber Cable Outside Plant is available in loose tube and tight buffered configurations, as well as single armored single jacket, ADSS, Figure-8 and dielectric Fiber Optic Cables, just to name a few. Also, with the current shortages of Armored Outdoor Fiber OSP, many users opt for Indoor/Outdoor fiber optic cable as well. Please see our Indoor/Outdoor Fiber Cables.
OSP Outside Plant Fiber is utilized in many ways including: LAN networks, premise installations, campus building interconnects, long haul, local loop and trunk lines to telecom closets. It is also found in intra-building backbones, ducts that connect buildings, lashed aerial installations, and in applications that require weather resistance as well as protection from the elements such as ozone and moisture protection and outdoor pests such as rodents.
Outdoor OSP Fiber is commonly installed through conduit, innerduct and facility ducting and can be used in lashed aerial installations. Armored Outdoor Fiber OSP can be used in direct burial applications. For areas that require aerial installations, users also have the option to install ADSS OSP Fiber Optic Cable, Outdoor Fiber Optic Cable and self-supporting fiber cable also called Aerial OSP Fiber Optic Cables. The self supporting/aerial OSP Fiber Optic Cables can be easily lashed from outdoor poles and also installed in the ducts situated under the ground. Armored Outdoor OSP Outside Plant consists of the steel made or aramid yard stress members on the inside, which protects the fibers from getting stressed.
Figure-8 Outdoor OSP Outside Plant fiber is typically manufactured with a metal messenger, which reduces time and costs to install, by as much as fifty percent over the costs to install cable lashed onto wire, as seen on utility poles. Figure-8 Outdoor Fiber Optic Cable is used for OSP campus and backbone applications and does not require cable lashing. Figure-8 fiber OSP Outside Plant is designed for aerial installations with rigorous load conditions, including heavy wind and ice for spans up to 500 feet (150 meters).
ADSS Fiber (All-Dielectric Self-Supporting) Outdoor OSP Outside Plant is used for installation in distribution as well as transmission environments, even when live-line installations are required. As its name indicates, there is no support or messenger wire required, so installation is achieved in a single pass through associated hardware, making ADSS an economical and simple means of building a fiber optic network. Distance spans of the fiber will vary depending upon whether light, medium or heavy rated fiber is used.
Outdoor Fiber Cable OSP Outside Plant can be either Single-Mode OSP Outside Plant (OS1 or OS2) or Multimode (OM1 62.5, OM2 50 micron, OM3 50-micron Laser Optimized). Outdoor Fiber Cable OSP can also have a Single Jacket Single Armored (SJSA) or a Double Jacket Double Armored (DJDA). The Outdoor Fiber Optic Cable OSP Outside Plant jacket is usually a black Polyethylene Jacket (PE) and is UV protected. Most Outdoor Fiber Optic Cable OSP Outside Plant are loose tube cables filled with waterproof gel or dry water block, which makes these cables water resistant.
